This made me very happy... can't wait to play it again, since i spend so much time on the original title.

it looks really good. do like a good turn based strategy game. had the original but my PC wouldn't run it due to its overly advanced OS (win XP!).

there's an xcom FPS too, but like the syndicate FPS no-one cares about it...

Yeh I saw this lurking in the shadows a bit back. Thing is, I'll believe it's good when it's good. Every remake has been lacklustre and colour me cynical but... :)

I will wait on this one tbh. They seem to be simplifying it (not always a bad thing) but I can't help feeling they're getting rid of the time units as a way to make it appeal to the console markets.

Making decisions about whether to spend my TU's on a 80% aimed shot or a 50% snap shot and maybe a 27% full auto as backup if needed. Managing time units was core to the game (can I pop out of cover lob a 'nade and get back into cover within my time points?). How will opportunity fire work if you don't have TU's to save until the aliens turn etc etc?

Still they've added proper cover and stuff like that so it might be better, you never know.

Also for those interested there's an open source UFO-Xcom clone out at http://ufoai.org/wiki/index.php/News I haven't had a chance to play too much but the few hours I have it seems pretty good.

Well let's face it no matter how much they harp on about being true to the original removal of the TU's changes the game totally. Will it still appeal to fans of the original? Probably - but I'm of the same opinion. I'll wait and see - Like I said above every remake has fallen way short so far!

Got my copy of Xenonaughts at the weekend though :)

Only had a chance to have a quick 5min go on it so far but it looks like a pretty faithful update of the original UFO.

An OK UFO clone, UFO Aftermath, is free on GMG atm. It's one of their 24 hour give aways.

Ste mentioned totalbiscuits video review of this to me - watched it. Looks like an epic fail if you want something like the original :(

Still recommends it tho.

I played all the original ones and have been playing this one as well.
It's just as good if not better then the old ones.

And finished it. 28 hours played (prob about 8 afk).

Way too short is my main complaint. The speed at which you progress is too high as well. You don't get time just to play a few missions enjoying your new laser tech before you've completed five more research projects and need to upgrade again...

Plus the fact I completed the game and shot down only 5 UFOs...

Room for improvement in many ways.
