I think Moyes would have gone for Pienaar and saha for Keane and Bentley if he thought we could get anywhere near their demands
(02 September 2010 - 02:35 PM)
Was David Bentley named in your 25? I must admit Tottenham have great squad depth, 2 good players for every position at least.
(02 September 2010 - 02:22 PM)
I don'think we lack in any position apart from a real world class forward to accompany defoe if we play 4-4-2. Our issue, as it was last season will be our players having the right attitude and redknapp making sure they stay motivated for the wigan matches
(02 September 2010 - 02:08 PM)
good point, keep forgetting him. My only knowledge of him is footy manager based but if i remember rightly hes a bit of a box to box midfielder in the Palacios mould isnt he.
(02 September 2010 - 02:06 PM)
and to do that he's fine, he still does the job but he was actually a threat going forward last year now he's utterly shocking
(02 September 2010 - 02:00 PM)
At his best Palcios far surpassed his worth monetarily, he was absolutely superb. Modric can play CM and plays well with Huddlestone, he showed that against arsenal/chelsea and city twice
(02 September 2010 - 01:51 PM)
and thats what i see as Spurs main area they need to strengthen, defensive midfield. You now have Modric and VDV who can play in the hole and Huddleston is IMO a fantastcis player to sit deep and spray the ball about.
(02 September 2010 - 01:46 PM)
Jenas is pretty dump really. I like palacios but I never saw him as worth his price tag anyway even prior to hid alaring dip in form.
(02 September 2010 - 01:44 PM)
Crouch looked class in the game he got a hat-trick against Arsenal. and some of the over head kicks he scored for us were class as well!
(02 September 2010 - 01:39 PM)
i'd go as far as to say jenas should play over him, which a year ago would be unthinkable as he was literally the centre of the team
(02 September 2010 - 01:34 PM)
crouch never looks class, he can be dangerous but he's never class. his movement is literally zero, when we have him and palacious we have 2 of our central players with no creativity at all
(02 September 2010 - 01:33 PM)
Id rather have crouch than babble and Ngog, can't understand why people are so against Crouch. he get double figures in gaols nearly every season.
(02 September 2010 - 01:26 PM)
As for our strikers, Defoe is superb even when he's not scoring now. Holds the ball up and bring people into play far better than any of the others
(02 September 2010 - 01:24 PM)
I would still take Torres, Ngog and Babel over Spurs 4 strikers. Even though all of spurs strikers are better than Ngog.
(02 September 2010 - 01:20 PM)
TBH Top 4 is the best we can hope for, most of the buys have been an in and out like for like replacement. What is grating though is Roy went on for months we needed a striker and nothing seemed to be done about it untill the last day of the window.
(02 September 2010 - 12:57 PM)
But unfortunately Gerrard is a ****. From what I've heard he is probably worse than Bellamy. Oh well, he can go on the list with Suarez once he has retired.
(02 September 2010 - 12:51 PM)
i have. it's just as bad anyway....if you dive to the floor with slight contact that wouldn't ordinarilly knock you down then that's just as bad as diving without contact.
(02 September 2010 - 12:50 PM)
and diving without contact isnt buying a foul is it? so yes there is a difference. Not sure ive seen Gerrard or Rooney dive with no contact whatsoever.
(02 September 2010 - 12:45 PM)
the diving is the crime though....the rolling round means nothing really. that's drogba's big crime too.....he just over-acts
(02 September 2010 - 12:44 PM)
He buys fouls just like Gerrard. Gerrard is the master of leaving his leg in to force contact. Rooney does it loads too. But none of them are the rolling round crying type which is why there isnt hatred there.

Funny comment from savage:- However, many people believe the reason he quit was due to a spat with Wales manager John Toshack. Savage did give the explanation that "John Toshack said it was my way or the highway - well I'm on the M56."
