Liverpool should do what it takes to get O'Neill. Imo he's their best chance of getting close to Scum, Arsenal or Chelsea. He also has a decent track record to mitigate against the risk of bringing in another foreign coach.

I'd give him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Celtic are a bigger club than Liverpool....

Don't see O'Neil moving, give him a offer he can't refuse - maybe a foreign manager that would work but O'Neil doesn't strike me as a manager looking for a big bank balance.

Celtic are going places in European football, Liverpool are not.

Only possibility i see him moving is if the Celtic board don't give him any transfer funds to strengthen his squad and replacing Larsson hoho.

You're joking surely?

They may be in terms of fan base, although that's debatable, but in terms of sheer top flight reputation/achievements?

I suppose it depends how you define 'bigger'. In the old days this seemed to be purely down to, honours and attendance but now there's the commercial machine to add to those two. Liverpool would seem to have all three to different degrees.

I don't think they are personally, but the difference is small. It pisses me off that Liverpool, and even Spurs fans (what a joke that is), think that they can snap their fingers and down O'neill will come.

Celtic are a fucking massive club. Shit league yes, but Europe every season without doubt, some cash and huge support in a massive ground. And he supported them as a kid, so why would he leave right now?

I think he's holding out for Man U.

Sad to see Houliier go, would have liked to have seen how next season would have gone.

Now he has gone I hope we get O'Neill in, not excited about any of the other prospects except maybe the Valencia guy. I also hope Houllier stays on in some capacity although I doubt it.

Poach Moyes I reckon, he's excellent tongue.gif yeah.gif

bigger in terms of a better team, wrong term!

But Celtic probably do have a bigger fan base, also one of the best sets of supporters in Europe. I invite you to find a stadium with better atmosphere on a European night or a old firm match than Parkhead.

I dont even want O'Neill.

Im not particulalry excited by any of the names being mentioned, that was my main gripe with sacking him in the first place, who do we get to replace him?!

Oviously you've never been to see Hucknall Town.

Curbishley to reveal plans

Charlton are set to make a statement on Monday in response to the continuing speculation linking manager Alan Curbishley with Liverpool.
He is thought to be one of the favourites to succeed Gerard Houllier, who has parted company with Liverpool.

Curbishley has been linked with Liverpool

Curbishley has been in sole charge at The Valley since 1995 and has been tipped as a future England manager.

Last February, Curbishley agreed an extension to his contract and has repeated his commitment to the Addicks.

LOL Celtic bigger than Liverpool, theres only two teams worth mentioning in Scotland, Rangers and Celtic. If both came down into the prem then I doubt theyd be challenging the current top 5.

Celtic make europe every season because there is no one else in scotland capable of regualy challenging them. And with Larson now gone they are not gonna be the same team they were this season, expect to see a fair few more points dropped next season.

yes, they get into Europe every season. You can only win what competitions you are in, Celtic's aims this season was to win the league, they done this - Liverpool's aim was to challenge, they wernt even remotely close.

They beat Liverpool last season over 2 legs, thats good enough for me.

Playing in a shit, small league isnt as easy as u make it sound, sure its easy to get into Europe but Celtic have not got a chance at attracting any big names, making European success very difficult whereas playing in such a high profile league such as the PL means attracting good players is no problem at all.

If Liverpool were to lose Gerrard it would be the same scenario as it is with Larsson.
