yes, they get into Europe every season. You can only win what competitions you are in, Celtic's aims this season was to win the league, they done this - Liverpool's aim was to challenge, they wernt even remotely close.

They beat Liverpool last season over 2 legs, thats good enough for me.

Playing in a shit, small league isnt as easy as u make it sound, sure its easy to get into Europe but Celtic have not got a chance at attracting any big names, making European success very difficult whereas playing in such a high profile league such as the PL means attracting good players is no problem at all.

If Liverpool were to lose Gerrard it would be the same scenario as it is with Larsson.

By that rationale Total Network Solutions are better than us.

If i remember rightly we beat Man Utd and Chelsea last time we played them, but they still finished way above us in the league.

I agree on the Gerrard point, he is our driving force, and i also agree that success is relative to circumstance.

Bring on the July the 26th eh.....

I'm not excited about the Valencia manager taking over, he's done very well in Spain it has to be said, but I don't think he speaks much English. O'neil I think would be a good replacement, as would Curbishley.

Celtic bigger than Liverpool, yeah right! And Rangers are bigger than Man Utd...

I think the time was probably right for the board to make the change they have done. With it looking likely that the club will have plenty of money to spend this summer, it would have been a real waste if Houllier had spent it and ended next season in failure and with losing his job - and I think anything but a title win or very close challenge would have been considered a failure.

I was quite impressed with the way the board and chairman handled the situation, a lot more professional than you see at most clubs. It also gives me confidence that they rejected the Morgan offer on valid grounds, and not because he was calling for a change in management.

Yeah these world renowned managers are gonna leave there already establish teams in Europe too manage the mighty Liverpool soon as they ask!

I don't know if you've noticed mate, but the managers' jobs at the "established teams in Europe" are like musical chairs.

yup, and liverpool have done what with that team exactly?

celtic's style is everyone working for each other, its not about individual skill and other pointless things. Are liverpool unbeaten at home in europe having played teams like lyon, byern munich, juventus etc........

The 'size' of a club is its history and its fan-base. You've got a big fanbase, so have they. They've won the European Cup four times; you've won it once.

Even if results were paramount in determining 'size' then Liverpool are just as good as Celtic anyway.

Rapier's a Rangers fan.

Celtic are a massive club, as are Liverpool. Celtic have been relatively succesful in recent times, Liverpool have not.

I hate Liverpool.

I do not hate Celtic.

Celtic win! tongue.gif

true, it's all about the money nowadays but would the Benitez jump ship just after lifting the Uefa cup and winning la liga? but surely you want a manager who wants to manage the club and not because of the money? maybe not!

You could win it... if you were Celtic. They're a good side. They'd be up there with Liverpool in our League, tell yer that lad. (Well maybe not now Larsson's gone, but y'know. Ahem.)
