Self explanatory question. After the last update drive I set up a recurring license so it'll cost (you) nothing. But change can be painful and I know some of you frequent other forums, maybe some of them have the latest software and you don't like it, or it doesn't work or something.

Thoughts?

I think whatever you think Dev, you're the one who has to implement the changes and fuck about with stuff if it goes awry. I think it should be up to you. (I would be happy to upgrade, if it means anything. I haven't seen any issues on other boards, and I like change.)

I didn't pay last time, but I'm happy to contribute anything I can should it be needed. I do, after all, spend more time here than anyone and slutbox is sometimes dead for days unless I talk nonsense to myself. This is my second home. :broo:

I'm with Sticky. Current boards are fine for how I use them, but if people think upgrading is useful I'm not bothered. I'll also contribute this time if there's a need.

Fine with me either way. Let us know if you need contributions for anything.

I'll help out brass wise but I'm not fussed - if there's something that'll be beneficial fair play.

Being quite serious now, what happens in the event of your death?

What if the domain expired while you were busy being well.. kaputt?

Also as there's no SLA, go for it. No need to ask, just check around re: exploits and vulnerabilities first.

Do it all by yourself and pay for it all yourself.

This is a good point actually. Given I've been giving a great deal of thought to what will happen when mum pops her clogs, which she will quite soon unfortunately, it's surprising I haven't thought about whatll happen when I go. Or maybe it isn't.

I should probably write down all the passwords and server details and whatnot.

The hosting is still in his name, that's pretty much it.

Personally, the forums seem stable and do everything that is required of them, so there isn't really any point. However, they are your forums now, so do as you will with them, just take a backup before you do anything ;)

As above, but if you do decide to upgrade, hit me up for donations.

Probably worth it just to keep us up to date and prevent any security issues. As Steve said though, be worth checking for vulnerabilities before hand.

Is there any cost involved?

Will it break any of the customizations/mods we have (spoiler tags, youtube vids, etc)?

Happy to donate again if need be as I said.

Some weirdos brought up what happens to Babbs given the unforeseen > That may be worth banging out.

As a forum like I said - I'm happy. You're not? Ok - upgrade pal. You know I'm onside.

My personal opinion.

I don't think it needs an update. If there are cool things please post them below - would be good to understand what they actually are. Nothing above is turning me on but maybe the reality of the upgrade will make things more awesome. For the 20 or so people who visit I personally don't see the point.

In terms of the money, you should pay for it. You have full control, you should pay for it. That's what it costs. If you don't wan't to pay for it open up the control of the forums and let everyone pay. You were offered sharing before - you didn't want to do it, so you now pay for it. Fair enough, no? Your choice - and I know you haven't asked for money so again, totally fair enough. It's pittance anyway let's face it.

Personally, I think you either open it up to be a collective or you don't (FWIW I don't think a collective would work). Make a decision, based on logic and input. You should just do what you think is best - it's your cash and input.

x
