This little baby is sitting waiting in my steam library... 2 weeks, 6 days

"Gods and Kings expansion features a reworked combat system and AI that puts more emphasis on a balanced army composition. The new system allows your lines to stand longer than they could before, so you, as a player, can make smarter tactical decisions without worrying about a single unlucky roll of the dice." (y)

Religion & Espionage are back (y)

9 new civs, 9 new wonders (y)

I've got Civ 5, played it a few times and just couldn't adapt. Probably need to play it more. Still playing Civ 4 with the rise of mankind mod.

I lied. Crusader Kings II is also playable on my macbook, and it's AMAZING.

I watched first six of these videos when I started: https://www.youtube....h?v=kMzAXqOqV5k, he does waffle a lot but it sinks in.

What I really want, is a Medieval or Rome Total War on the new engine :@.

I take it with Crusader you don't fight the battles like in Total War?

If they've introduced a feature which prevents one player from ruining the game for all other players by micromanaging every unit every turn, this would make me very happy!

Battles all take place on the 'campaign' map, it's usually just a matter of numbers to win it.

You realise it's the publishers that set prices?

James, that micromanagement time gave you time to reflect how awesome my civilisation was to yours.

This isn't entirely accurate. Most of the time you're right though :)

Does anyone Multiplayer much?

At the moment I'm playing 2/3 of us, as a team, vs an equal number AI team. We're finding they're not very aggressive at all. To the point where we're on their borders and still see no combat units. We've tried making the only victory condition Domination and that doesn't seem to do very much. We have mostly played continent style maps so far though, are the AI not very good at getting over water?

I'm guessing the next step is to give the AI bonuses by upping the difficulty?

The this might all be irrelevant if they've revamped the AI for the expansion ..

Difficulty is important for AI aggression.

Upping the AI seems to have helped with aggression, but the amount of bonuses they get means getting wonders done can be tricky.

BTW, did anyone like the city states? We turn them off in multiplayer (helps with the turn times) and I can't say I miss their nagging and the fact they are usually in the way of a nice expansion spot.

I like them yes. Adds to the diplomacy, another victory route, and a way of maintaining your empire. Can also help pressure a Civ into going to war via pledges.

What AI are you on? I played some King earlier but it looks like I am way ahead, going to start another game.

If anything, Civ V: Brave New World no longer really feels like Civ V so much as it does Civ VI.

Interesting!
