Try as I might I can't find one that's the right size.

I'm after a 30" x 18" approximately griddle / skillet that I can put over the hobs on my oven to cook really large omelets and such on. It might be too specific - anyone know a good cooking site / shop that might have something more specialised than a Google search seems to turn up?

My aunt has one like this, which although won't go over your hobs exactly - is a fine little device and I keep meaning to get one.

http://www.ebay.co.u...41616%26ps%3D54 ??

Why would you cook an omelette in a skillet anyway?

Edit: ".IT OFFERS A RIDGED SIDE WHICH IS PERFECT FOR STEAKS & FISH AND A FLAT SIDE WHICH IS PERFECT FOR PANCAKES & EGGS."

Yeh mate I know it's pretty large. Maybe griddle is the wrong word then. I want a large flat cast iron bed with raised edges to contain any liquid. Like a rectangular frying pan?

I do like oms and I was watching that prog "Man vs Food" and one of the restaurants he visited they made a massive om with chilli and sour cream etc - more like a pie - and I thought that'd be grand. I know I could make a smaller one but I figure that if someone makes a griddle of the size I'm after why not? :)

Plus it could be good for other things like cooking a large breakfast for half a dozen people at once which can be a problem as I find you tend to cook one after the other rather than doing 'em all at once so someone is always waiting.

I managed to get one that's about 600 x 450 .

Massive omelette, jalapeño and mince, topped with sour cream and a cheese base.

Sound job!

Not sure if this is going to be helpful... but.

A mate of mine for his bbq has a 2ft square or so piece of 1/4inch steel plate he acquired somewhere. Scrapes it down while still hot, wipe down with oil (veg, not engine).

Something like that should do the trick - get someone to fab it to size, lip round the edge if you really think you need it (bbq doesn't), and maybe some woggles to stop it sliding off the hob.

Sounds like a winner to me, might see if I can find someone to knock one up.
