I've been playing some Counterstrike GO recently, its fun! Considering renting a server. Would anyone have any interest in playing CS:GO on it?

There's a few communities which host CS:GO servers, but they all appear to have mods that dont work, bad map rotations and a lack of admins to get rid of cheaters, etc.

I looked at just leasing a VPS/Dedicated box, but unless it were hosting 3/4 game servers, the costs are not worth it.

I'd play occasionally. Wanted to have a go at it after briefly getting back into CS:S

Quake Live then!

But, on topic - how are you finding CS:GO? I've been tempted, but not really bothered.

Its far closer to the original CS engine than source ever was or could be despite looking and feeling vastly more up to date. They've removed a lot of the gimmicky things from the maps (moving barrels, rubbish, etc) so the FPS doesn't take a massive drop hit it like it did with cs:s, so it feels a lot more playable, plus they've tuned the net-code/hit-boxes so it feels more responsive.

They're releasing maps and bug fixes pretty quickly too and the Steam Workshop has made it far easier for community made maps to make it on to live servers, for example - https://www.youtube....sQJdcvdAck#t=6s is making its way. Not to say there haven't always been player made maps, but they seem way more polished now.

So far I'm liking it and I really really, really didn't like CS:Source!

I'd join. Been looking for decent servers to play on, there seem to be few servers that have a steady stream of players unless you want to do 32 man Dust2 24/7.

If this version is as good as you say then I'm up for it. Sounds like a laugh at least. What are the options, budget and whatnot?

Well I subbed a server last night, for a month. Its 13 a month for a 20 slot with ftp/admin mode etc. Don't save anything really over 3/6 month periods. Multiplay were marginally cheaper but my experience with them and L4D/voice servers was shit.

Seemed pretty good loaded with bots and a few players connected. Having some problems with it atm because the game updated last night. I'll post the IP later when its back up and running.
