We need context and detail.

If it's a faulty lock on the door of the Nazis' and Murderers' Bank then don't tell them. If it's a faulty space heater in an orphanage then tell them.

Blakckmail can backfire quite quickly, and land you in a whole heap of shit.

Blackmail won't work. They may make you whatever promise you like but once the error is fixed you'll be sacked for knowing about it and not telling them promptly.
