So, im going to be starting Uni in march as a 'mature' student, even though im technically not that much older then a normal student. Has anyone had any experiance with this positive/negative?

Im hoping that being a little older will allow me to get my head down and finish my studies without the need to go out n get rat arsed every night (been there, done that)

Yep; I started when I was 24 and did a two year HNC (like a part time HND) and then entered year two of a five year part time degree. I already was working in my current career when I started so I'm not sure I can give you an identical experience. I found it difficult to balance the career and work I had to do but I definitely think a mature attitude was really helpful. Because I did a part time degree it was full of people already in business.

If you aren't that much older it won't make any real difference. I did my BSc when I was in my 20's rather than from 18 but didn't really notice that I was a bit older than most of other people on my course. I didn't finish my PhD until I was 32 but that's mostly independant research so it's not as if I was mingling with the undergrads that much (only when I was teaching them...okay so then maybe I did feel a bit older).

Acid test must be if you look at what everyone else is wearing and go "wtf??" then you're officially old. :P

I agree with Rob, unless you are at least 15 years older it's not gonna make a difference. I went to uni in my 40s and even then if I wanted to I could have led the same life as the 18 year olds and tbh drunk most of them under the table which is exactly what I did on my last day :winfork: pfft kids! They think they pwn the party life <_<
